Slogging Away...

I'm still slogging away at getting my new website up and running. Setting up the carts is doing my head in lol Because I'm keeping my lampwork beads and my jewellery seperate, I am setting up two seperate carts. So basically I'm doing twice the work!! lol

I have pretty much finished the lampwork beads section, just have a couple of little things to do and it's finished. And with the jewellery, I just need to take some new photos of my earrings and get them loaded up and it's done.

I'm aiming to go 'live' at the end of this month. Hopefully everything will go as planned and get completed on time.

I decided to have a break from the computer yesterday and spent the day at Chockadoo's making up some frit blends for Cathy to (hopefully) sell lol It's so much fun mixing colours to make blends! I ended up creating 18 different blends, 9 of which Cathy loved straight away. I'll be playing around with the blends making some test beads with them, see how they turn out. I'll be sure to post some piccies when they're done.

No more free websites with ads anymore! I will put everything on the one website too, all my jewellery, my lampwork beads and my graphics.

Just waiting for the hosting to be sorted out, then I'll start working on the site.

I have been fascinated by the Kanji symbols since I first started seeing them about and had been planning on doing an elemental series as well. So I decided to combine the two in these beads.

The photos are a tad dark as it's overcast and raining here right now, so I had to deal with some dark shadows.

About the beads: all beads are on white bases with frit blends for the colours. The Kanji symbols are done with silver plum stringer. I'm rather please with how the symbols turned out, as it's my first time trying them.

Air: I twisted the frit to make swirls, which represent the flow of air currents in the atmosphere.
Fire: I swirled the frit to represent the movement of dancing flames.
Water: I raked the frit to represent the flowing streams of water.
Earth: I left the frit plain to represent all the soils, pebbles and rocks that make up the earth.

I'm trying to decide whether to make smaller lentil beads to match each of the focals or just sell the focals in a set as they are. Anyone have any opinions?

Custom Orders

Finally completed and photographed the custom orders I have been working on lately. The weather has been all over the place here and has made it hard to get torch time. If it rains, my shed leaks; if it's windy, the flame blows about or even completely out! It's going to be fun because this is the time of year that it seems to be really windy.

Anyway here they are, two of the sets are copies of some lentil beads I made earlier, but with other bead shapes added as well.

PMC on lampwork vessel

Well here it is! PMC (precious metal clay) on one of my lampwork vessels. PMC is fine silver particles mixed with a binder and water to make a clay, you then work the clay into a design, then fire in the kiln. The binder and water evaporate leaving you with 99.99% pure fine silver.

I already have plans for another vessel with pmc, but this time I'm going to use ivory coloured glass. The metals in the glass and the silver react together giving an amazing organic look. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
